The Power of Prayer

The Power of Prayer.

In the scripture of Psalm 107:28-30, “Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress. He made the storm be still, and the waves of the sea were hushed. Then they were glad that the waters were quiet, and he brought them to their desired haven.”

Prayer is easy, it’s simply talking to God.

Just today my son, who is a little over a year old, fell on the stairs hurting his leg. It was so horrible to see him limping around and crying.

After checking him out and ruling out any broken bones, I began to worry about him, wondering if we still needed to bring him in for an x-ray or evaluation. It killed me to see him in pain and anguish, whimpering and falling, when trying to stand and walk.

Worrying is simply trying to take control of your own situation. Those that worry actually have the potential to make great prayer warriors, that is if and only if they surrender their fears, and translate them into prayers.

I began to ask the Lord for wisdom in the situation, thanking him that my son would be ok and praying for his little leg. I then went to the store with my two daughters and released the worry to God, knowing very well that He would take care of the situation. I continued to pray and ask for healing for my ‘little bud’.

When we returned home, I praised God when I found that my son was no longer limping, no longer crying or whimpering, and that his leg was much improved if not all healed.

This doesn’t mean that every prayer prayed is answered, and this is something we have to accept. As God is all knowing and we are not. But I just want to encourage you to turn your worries into prayers, and therefore be less stressed as we have usually no control over the outcome.

This is just a short and very small example of the power of prayer and surrendering your thoughts and anxieties to the great and loving God, who knows all about you and loves you just the same.

Be Blessed on this day and thank the Lord for the little things you have and are blessed with.
